2018 Micro Bird G5 Transit Bus recalls

Defect: Corp. Micro Bird Inc. (Micro Bird) is recalling certain 2018-2019 G5 electric school buses. Electrical wires in the vehicle charging port may have been improperly crimped.

Why it matters: An improperly crimped wire may overheat, increasing the risk of a fire.

Owners are advised not to drive these buses until the repair has been completed. Micro Bird will work coordinate with the manufacturer of the charging port, Ecotuned, to replace the charging port and the air conditioning refrigerant, free of charge. Why it matters: An unsecured wheelchair can move during transit or a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Why it matters: Seats that detach may not adequately restrain an occupant, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.

Why it matters: Occupants may have to unfold the seat to access the exit handle and instructions, delaying an emergency evacuation and increasing the risk of injury.

During manufacturing, the seat belt anchorage plate may not have been correctly attached to the wall, limiting the capacity of the shoulder belt to restrain a passenger in the event of a crash.

Why it matters: If the belt anchorage plate detaches from the wall, and cannot properly restrain a passenger it can increase the risk of injury.
