2024 Prevost H3-45 recalls

Defect: Prevost Car (US) Inc. (Prevost) is recalling certain 2005-2024 X3-45, 2017-2019 and 2021-2023 X3-45 Commuter, 2006-2007, 2014, and 2018 H3-41, 2005-2020 and 2022-2024 H3-45, and 2019 H3-45 VIP buses equipped with a wheelchair lift. The wheelchair platform bridging device may be too steep, which can cause the wheelchair to become unstable. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 403, "Platform Lift Devices" and 404, "Platform Lift Installations.".

Why it matters: An unstable wheelchair increases the risk of injury to lift occupants.

Defect: Prevost Car (US) Inc. (Prevost) is recalling certain 2010 H3-45 VIP, 2024 H3-45 and X3-45 vehicles. The coolant heaters may generate excessive exhaust gas and overheat.

Why it matters: Excessive exhaust gas may increase the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning, and an overheating heater increases the risk of a fire. Additionally, a vehicle fire may require an evacuation procedure in an uncontrolled traffic situation, increasing the risk of injury to passengers.

Vehicle owners are advised not to operate the heaters until they have been repaired. Prevost will inspect the coolant heaters, replace the damaged components, and clean the heater's internal components, as necessary. In addition, Prevost will adjust the air to fuel ratio. Defect: Prevost Car (US) Inc. (Prevost) is recalling certain 2024 H3-45 and H3-45 VIP vehicles. The grommet that protects the battery cables passing through a metallic panel was improperly installed, allowing the cables to chafe on the edges of the panel and potentially short circuit.

Why it matters: An electrical short circuit increases the risk of a fire. Additionally, a vehicle fire may require an evacuation procedure in an uncontrolled traffic situation, increasing the risk of injury to passengers.

Defect: Prevost Car (US) Inc. (Prevost) is recalling certain 2014 and 2018 H3-41, 2013-2024 H3-45, 2012-2024 X3-45, and 2017-2023 X3-45 Commuter vehicles. The red beacon lighting on the Threshold Warning System (TWS) may not be bright enough. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 403, "Platform Lift Systems.".

Why it matters: Beacons that do not provide proper illumination may be less visible to wheelchair lift users, increasing the risk of injury.

Defect: Prevost Car (US) Inc. (Prevost) is recalling certain 2024 H3-45 and 2022-2024 H3-45 VIP motorcoaches equipped with Prevost Driver Assist. The radar sensor may be obstructed by an incorrect front bumper trim panel, causing the driver assist system to not function properly.

Why it matters: A driver assist system that does not function properly may engage the brakes unexpectedly or fail to engage the brakes as intended, increasing the risk of a crash.

Defect: Prevost Car (US) Inc. (Prevost) is recalling certain 2024 H3-45, 2023-2024 H3-45 VIP, X3-45 VIP, X3-45 VIP Entertainer, and 2023 X3-45 motor coaches. The grid heater cables that connect to the relay may have a loose connection and cause the relay to overheat.

Why it matters: A relay that overheats can increase the risk of a fire.

Defect: Prevost Car (US) Inc. (Prevost) is recalling certain 2023-2024 H3-45 and 2022-2024 H3-45 VIP vehicles. The right front turn signal light may fail when the turn signal or hazard warning lights are activated. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.".

Why it matters: An inoperative front turn signal may not notify other drivers of a turning vehicle, while inoperative hazard warning lights reduce the vehicle visibility to other drivers, both increasing the risk of a crash.
