Defect: Altec Industries Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain 2011-2025 Aerial Device, Digger Derrick, and 2022-2025 Service Body vehicles. The cable step wire rope assembly may be improperly secured, which can allow the cable entry step to detach from the vehicle.

Why it matters: A cable step that fails during use increases the risk of injury.

Altec will provide owners with instructions to inspect the cable crimps. If the cables are improperly crimped, Altec will provide instructions and a kit to replace the wire rope assemblies. Why it matters: An outlet without GFCI protection may fail to shut off electrical power when a ground-fault occurs, increasing the risk of injury or fire.

The accessories utilizing chassis air supply may be missing pressure protection valves. The accessory lines may not prevent service brake line pressure loss due to failure or leakage in the accessory air system. Additionally, the air cushioned pintle hook may have been connected to the incorrect air lines. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 121, "Air Brake Systems.".
