2026 Blue Bird Vision School Bus recalls

Defect: Blue Bird Body Company (Blue Bird) is recalling certain 2025-2027 Vision school buses equipped with Ricon K-Series wheelchair platform lifts. The electrical contactor may fail, preventing the controls from stopping the lift.

Why it matters: A wheelchair lift that continues to move while occupied increases the risk of injury.

Why it matters: An electrical short can cause a disruption to safety functions such as a loss of rear lighting or instrument panel warning lights, increasing the risk of a crash.

Defect: Blue Bird Bus Company (Blue Bird) is recalling certain 2022-2027 Vision school buses. The exhaust hanger cotter pin may contact the hydraulic brake line, damaging the line and causing a brake fluid leak.

Why it matters: A brake fluid leak in the presence of an ignition source such as hot engine or exhaust components can increase the risk of a fire. Additionally, a brake fluid leak can extend the distance required to stop, increasing the risk of a crash.

The seat mounting fasteners may have been improperly tightened. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 207, "Seating Systems," 210, "Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages," and 222, "School Bus Passenger Seating and Crash Protection.".

Why it matters: A seat with loose fasteners may not properly restrain an occupant during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
