2024 Volvo Vn recalls

Defect: Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling certain 2022-2025 Volvo VN and 2025 New VN trucks. The idler gear bracket fasteners may have been improperly tightened, allowing the idler gear to detach from the engine.

Why it matters: A detached idler gear can damage the engine, resulting in a stall and increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Electrical noise and low signal to the power line carrier may cause the ECU to incorrectly process commands or stop working.

Why it matters: Safety systems that depend on the ECU (Automatic Traction Control, ABS, Electronic Stability Control, Active Cruise Control, and Collison Mitigation System) may have diminished or lost functionality, increasing the risk of a crash.

The Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) listed on the vehicle certification label is incorrect, which can allow the vehicle to be overloaded. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification.".

Why it matters: An overloaded vehicle can increase the risk of a crash.
