Defect and consequence
Defect: Vermeer Manufacturing Company (Vermeer) is recalling certain 2015-2022 BC900XL brush chipper trailers. The service and maintenance manuals list the incorrect lug nut torque value.
Why it matters: Improperly tightened lug nuts can result in a loose or detached wheel, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Vermeer will provide a remedy kit with a new manual, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 11, 2024. Owners may contact Vermeer customer service at 1-800-829-0051, ext. 7060. Vermeer's number for this recall is IK4561.

Defect: Vermeer Manufacturing Company (Vermeer) is recalling certain 2021 BC900XL, BC1000XL, and BC1200XL brush chippers. The chipper discharge chute may separate, and fall off the trailer.
Why it matters: A separated chipper discharge chute can become a road hazard, increasing the risk of injury or crash.
Remedy
Dealers will install a field remedy kit, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on October 21, 2021. Owners may contact Vermeer's customer service at 1-800-829-0051 ext. 7060. Vermeer's number for this recall is IK4126.

Defect and consequence
Defect: Vermeer Manufacturing Company (Vermeer) is recalling certain 2021 BC900XL brush chipper trailers. The mounting bolts that secure the axle assembly to the mainframe structure of the brush chipper may not have been tightened properly.
Why it matters: Loose axle mounting bolts may result in the axle separating from the brush chipper, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Vermeer will notify owners, and dealers will replace the mounting bolts and tighten them to the correct torque specification, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin April 20, 2021.
